David has and Msci. in Marine Biology from The University of Southampton (UK) and a Ph.D. in phytoplankton ecology from the Graduate School of the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton. After graduating, David set-up and ran a sailing-excursion business for 1.5 years before moving to Norway in 2017. David initially joined SES part-time in late 2017 to help in the hatchery. Over this time he gained experience across the entire seaweed cultivation process and now works as Hatchery Technician, helping to take care of the plants at all stages of their development on land and at sea. He is also involved in managing, planning and executing R&D tasks in order to continuously improve and update the company’s cultivation protocols. David speaks English, Portuguese and Norwegian.
